We spend the day going from Zurich to Lucerne to Interlaken and then back to Zurich. A full day of walking and sights. Switzerland is beautiful to travel around. Everything is so clean and crisp. We arrived in Lucerne early morning. It was overcast but at least not raining. We spent about an hour here before moving on. Nice city on the river. Then it was off to Interlaken. Along the way we stopped for some pics and lunch. We made a stop at the Giessbach Falls and Hotel Giessb
Morning in Milan, Italy and night in Zurich, Switzerland. We start the day off with Sunday mass at the Duomo di Milano, or as it is also called, Milan Cathedral, the cathedral church of Milan. Very impressive. Info on the church says it took 600 years to build. We walked around the Piazza del Duomo, the main piazza of Milan. LOTS of people gathering to sight-see and take selfies. We left Milan and headed to Geneva, Switzerland. On the way we stopped at Chillon Castle on Lake
Day 5 was spent driving from Budapest to Venice.
It is about a 7 hour drive. We drove through the country of Slovenia. It was beautiful. The only problem was there was no place to pull over to take photos. We would come out of a tunnel and see a great view of a small village on the hillside or along the water and then right back into a tunnel. One great spot was Maribor. Google images for this city. Wish we had gone into the city instead of just passing on the highway. Day
We arrived around noon coming from Vienna to Budapest. It is a beautiful city. So much to see. More than the day we scheduled for it. We took the city tour bus. This gave us the best way to city all the city in the time available. Our hotel was one of the biggest surprises. When I booked it, I based it $, location and feedback. Little did I know it was a national landmark. We stayed at the Gellert. When we arrived we were told they had upgraded us. Now, I have been told I hav
Vienna, Austria’s capital, lies east of the Danube River. It has a list of very famous residents including Mozart, Beethoven and Sigmund Freud. We saw none of them. They must have been on vacation too. Vienna has many beautiful churches and buildings. And even palaces. According to Wikipedia- Schönbrunn Palace is a former imperial summer residence located in Vienna, Austria. The 1,441-room Baroque palace is one of the most important architectural, cultural, and historical mon
We spent all of day 2 in Austria. The morning in Salzburg and then the night in Vienna. The weather wasn't great in Salzburg but as the day wore on the sun came out. Loved the old-world feeling walking the streets in the lite rain. The over-cast day with dark clouds give the images a "mood". But, I still wished for blue skies. Maybe later... And for those who are playing along-
#1- Sound of Music
#2- Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart
Day 1 of what I will call- "Around the Alps Tour 2016"
This is really a combined post, half day when we arrived and then our first traveling day. Zurich was very cloudy and rainy. We saw a lot but didn't get much in the way of photos because of the rain. Since we will be ending our trip back here, I hope for better weather then. (Not to kill the suspense, but we did have better weather on the return trip). First full day- we left Zurich and headed to Munich, Germany.
Finished editing and sorting the 3,000+ images from our recent vacation. I will be posting a new location each day this week.
I hope you will enjoy the images.
Below is a map of our trip. We drove over 1800 miles in 7 days. The red dots mark our stops.
